Living free of drugs

We live in a society that is overmedicated.  Millions of children and adults do not know what it is like to live a day without absorbing prescription and over-the-counter drugs. 

Chemicals in our mind and body cover-up the underlying issues, they do not solve them.  They also make us psychologically and chemically dependent on them.  Drugs have plenty of negative and harmful side effects.  Their long-range effects on us are still unknown, but it is a reason for concern.  This is especially true for children. 

Many will argue that without chemicals they would not be able to function normally, or to achieve at a higher level.  They will add that they take drugs because they need them, not because they want them.  This is a valid argument. 

The alternative is not to go without drugs and suffer.  It is to experience healing and then be drug-free. 

Always prescient, insightful and brilliant, M. B. Eddy wrote this a century ago: "More thought is given to material illusions than to spiritual facts.  If we can aid in abating suffering and diminishing sin, we shall have accomplished much; but if we can bring to the general thought this great fact that drugs do not, cannot, produce health and harmony, since 'in Him (Mind) we live, and move, and have our being,' we shall have done more" (Mis. 7:32).

Spirituality is a potent force for healing.  It addresses and resolves obvious and hidden conflicts within our psyche. 

Healing begins by discovering our blessed and indissoluble relationship with infinite LOVE-GOD.  We are LOVE-GOD’s unique, treasured and eternal expressions.  We derive beauty, wholeness and permanence from immeasurable LIFE-GOD. 

We do not need to earn GOD’s love because it saturates our being.  LOVE-GOD does not negotiate benefits with us; it reveals its majesty and fullness in our spiritual composition.

We are endowed with LOVE-MIND’s talents and resources.  This awareness engenders courage, confidence and peace.  Anxiety, insecurity and fear fade away when we are cognizant of our spiritual magnificence and fullness.  Knowing that we are essential to LOVE-GOD eradicates depression. 

The apostle Paul describes our blended relationship with SPIRIT-GOD this way, "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ;..." (Rom. 8:16, 17).  

We do not need to medicate our way through life.  Difficult problems can be solved with SOUL-generated intelligence, love and resources.  Jesus Christ conquered problems by being congruent with SOUL-GOD.  Our innate, Christly spirit also is congruent with SOUL.

Our Christly spirit sees through materiality.  The bio-chemical-neuron organism we seem to be is eclipsed by man’s dazzling, celestial composition.  This knowledge gives us a “high” and satisfaction that no chemical –legal or illegal – can match. 

Only our relationship with SPIRIT-SOUL and spiritual living can deliver profound fulfillment, purpose and meet all our needs.
